Importance of Keywords in Search Engine’s Searching Criteria

Keyword Density

Keyword density is the percentage of number of times Keyword appeared on a Web page by total number of words in that page. Example, in an article of 100 words, blogger is using Keyword 10 times, so density will be 10%.

Mathematically, it is:

(No. of Keywords/ Total number of Keywords) * 100

Keyword density ratio varies from search engine to search engine. It should be in the range of 2-8%.

Negative Keywords

Negative keywords is the way of filtering out unwanted clicks. By setting a negative keyword, you inform Google what searches one don’t want his ads to display.

Keyword Frequency

Keyword frequency is number of times a keyword phrase or keyword appears within a web page.

The theory is that the maximum times a keyword or keyword phrase seems to be appeared within a web page, the more relevance a search engine gives the page for a search with those keywords.

Ensure that the most important keyword or keyword phrase is the most frequently used in a web page but there are no rules and restrictions as to how many times a keyword phrase should be repeated again and again on a site or in HTML tag.

Long Tail Keyword

Long tail keywords are 3 and 4 keyword phrases which are very, very specific to whatever you are selling. You see, as customer uses a highly specific search phrase, they tend to be looking for exactly what they are actually going to buy.

Keyword Prominence

Prominence means state of being noticed. Keyword prominence means how prominent keywords are used within a web page.

Generally it is to place important keywords at, or near, the start of a sentence, web page, META tag or TITLE.

Keyword Proximity

Keyword proximity refers to the togetherness between two or more keywords. Highly recommended, the closer the keywords are, the good one is its proximity.

For example:

“Magento Development Video on You tube”

“Video of Magento Development on You tube”

Consider, someone is searching for “Magento Development Video“. So according to Search Engine Optimisation technique web page containing the first sentence is having chances of ranking higher than the second one mentioned.

Main reason is because the keywords are placed closer together.
